This is a reflection on my upcoming birthday when I enter the decade of the eighties. This is my first attempt at 5-7-5-7-7, the Tanka form.
I used Older and Today for Old and Days.
A long time ago I thought I would become a chemist! I have been in the world of science throughout my years. I think writing and particularly haiku and its forms are like chemistry. They are a distillate of a larger mass and require some technique and work to arrive there. I am a chemist/poet.

Yes, wonderful to be alive. I too learnt about haiku, Tanka and other such forms of poetry in WordPress. They are such fun. It is really fascinating to combine the thoughts and the number of syllables.
