A long time ago I thought I would become a chemist! I have been in the world of science throughout my years. I think writing and particularly haiku and its forms are like chemistry. I did not take this photo – one I chose to illustrate and inspire the haiku. It is a butte called Hat Mountain in the Barry M Goldwater range and taken in January 2005, a good year for the bloom.
